Why use a Blue Badge Tourist Guide?

The Blue Badge is a symbol of excellence in tourist guiding.

Blue Badge Tourist Guides are the official, professional tourist guides of the United Kingdom and we wear a Blue Badge to indicate our professionalism.

The Blue Badge is used as a quality assurance marque and Blue Badge Tourist Guides are often the ONLY external guides permitted to conduct tours at many attractions including Windsor Castle, Westminster Abbey and the Tower of London.

We are recognised by local tourist bodies throughout the UK and by Visit Britain as Britain’s official tourist guides.

In England, the Institute of Tourist Guiding sets the standards, examines and accredits the tour guides. All  tour guides must study for a period of up to two years at university level and successfully pass the Institute’s rigorous written and practical exams before qualifying as Blue Badge Tourist Guides.

The Blue Badge accolade is the highest guiding qualification in Britain. Once awarded, the holder agrees to abide by the Professional Code of Conduct.

Blue Badge Tourist Guides are invited to become members of the Guild of Registered Tourist Guides.

Membership of the Guild includes the benefit of Public Liability insurance and legal liability for third party injury or property damage arising during the course of the tour guiding activities.

As you can see Blue Badge Tourist Guides are professional in every way!
